Life with a newborn is not actually easy. In the first few months of life, it is downright impossible to rest or eat properly enough. However, no matter how demanding baby's care would be, you should try to take care of you also.

A healthier breakfast

The proteins in eggs or yogurt or cereal or complex carbs in bread are a better choice than simple carbohydrates or sugar. Complex carbohydrates are digested more slowly and are more nutritious for the body because of the vitamins and minerals they contain.

Frequent snacks throughout the day

Instead of eating three large meals a day, try to get five smaller servings, to make sure that your energy level remains consistently high. If you do not have time to eat properly even once a day, you must fill the fridge with all sorts of 'snacks', rich in protein and complex carbohydrates (fruit yogurt, dried fruit, nuts and peanuts, cheese, crackers, hummus, etc..), and use them whenever necessary.

Drink plenty of water

In the first weeks after birth, dehydration is not exactly what you may need besides all other problems you must be confronted to. It is advisable to always have with you a bottle of water, especially if you breastfed.

Do not rely on caffeine and sugar

A cup of coffee or a chocolate bar can be tempting, because you think they will give the tonus. But remember that after the initial growth of energy level, there will follow invariably its loss, then you will feel even more tired.

Fruit - best solution

Best choices are apples, oranges, peaches or pears because they are rich in fiber. Fruits raise the level of energy your body needs, without generating harmful effects sugar, caffeine and junk-food have, that is further decreased tone.

And you also have to sleep

Sleep deprivation is one of the most important problems that must face a new mother. For this reason, you must try to sleep whenever you can. Even half an hour of sleep can do wonders.
