The skin of young children is more sensitive to the sun than that of the adults. It is very important to provide babies' skin adequate protection against sunlight especially because specialists made heavily studies in this sense: it is enough just one or two burns in this period of life to double the risk of developing malignant melanoma later in adult life.

Worrying is that children tend to be exposed to ultraviolet rays 3 times more than adults, which explains the fact that 80% of the sun and skin problems occur in the first 18 years of life. With a little willpower, solar protection and the prevention of serious events can be easily made:

  • Dress properly the baby from head to toe using clothing made of natural materials and light-colored
  • After 6 months the babies can be applied sunscreen; up to this age there have not been studied the effects of this range of products on the skin. When it came the time to choose protective ointment, do not use alcohol- based ones.
  • On the seaside the protection is cleared rapidly by contact with water, remember its reapplication.
  • Another sensitive element is the retina of the little ones. When you feel the need to cover your eyes from excess light, the same thing happens with children's eyes. Use approved products with maximum shielding given that toy sunglasses absorb more heat, dilates enormously the pupil and ultraviolet rays may penetrate the sensitive tissues. For eye protection can also use thin hats to create the shade for the face.
  • And if the atmosphere makes you spend the throughout afternoon outdoors, come back periodically under the umbrella for an oasis of coolness.
It is known that water and sun brown well the exposed skin. If you want to give the little ones the pleasure of swimming or playing in the pool you can choose to dress them in special material cloths that cover a large area of the skin. What has to be done if the sensitive skin of the little ones still begins to sting and become red after a beautiful day on the shores? Local reaction is unpleasant and the sensation of heat that children do not know how to relate is very uncomfortable. Try to cool them by wetting a small sheet in colder water and apply it gently on the skin. You can keep the packing for 15 minutes and repeat the manoeuvre several times a day. Skin hydration must be maintained through the application of special creams in general but the body but will also need more liquid. If you see on the skin the appearance of small fluid-filled blisters surrounded by red zones, you can be sure that burning is of a higher degree and you must ask for help.
Following simple but authorized tips you can contribute to the full development of a healthy lifestyle, away from the excesses, this being something for which you will receive children's gratitude later.
